I've been listening to Palace for the People nonstop since its release, and I'm still trying to wrap my head around just how much it's grown on me. I think part of the reason it's taken me this long to fully commit to the album is that it's a bit of a mixed bag – there are some genuinely stunning songs, but there are also a few that feel like filler.

Palace for the People is a quintessential Greta Van Fleet record – it's big, it's boisterous, and it's unapologetically blues-rock. The band's sound is so distinct, it's almost impossible to ignore the influences that have shaped their music over the years. Josh Kiszka's wailing vocals are still the standout feature of their sound, and when he's on fire (as he often is), it's almost impossible to resist the band's charms.

When Greta Van Fleet Hits the Mark

Take a song like "Frog Pond", for example. The minute the guitars kick in, you know you're in for a treat. The riffs are crunching, Josh's vocals are soaring, and the whole thing just feels like a wild, reckless ride. I love how the band's songs often build to these epic climaxes, where everything just comes together in a swirl of noise and energy. It's exhilarating, and it's exactly what you want from a live performance.

But even when Greta Van Fleet isn't hitting the mark, there's still something undeniably captivating about their sound. Maybe it's the way they weave together these different influences – blues, rock, folk – to create something that's uniquely their own. Or maybe it's just the fact that Josh Kiszka is so undeniably charismatic, even when the music isn't quite working. Either way, Palace for the People is an album that's impossible to ignore, even when it's not always doing its best work.

So I was at the Greta Van Fleet show the other night, and I'm still reeling from the experience. I've been listening to their music nonstop since An Evening with Greta Van Fleet dropped, and it's been a wild ride. The energy in the room was electric, and these guys truly know how to put on a show.

I was blown away by the way they tackled some of their most complex songs. I mean, 'Parquet Courts' is no joke, and I was nervous about how they'd pull it off live. But Josh Kiszka's vocals were spot on – he nailed every high note and delivered a performance that was both powerful and emotional. The whole band was in sync, with Matt and Jake's guitar work weaving together seamlessly and Sam's drums providing a driving beat.

One thing that stood out to me was the way they incorporated elements of their Canadian heritage into the setlist. The nod to Neil Young's 'The Needle and the Damage Done' was a nice touch, and it added a level of depth to the performance that I didn't expect. It's clear that these guys are deeply connected to their roots, and that comes across in their music.
